Indian IT&BPM industry has been making significant contribution to the success of Exports revenue from the country. Today the IT and BPM Industry is set to deliver an overall revenue of USD 118 bn representing a growth of 12% over the last year. The IT&BPM industry today contributes to around 8.1 % towards GDP growth in the country and employs 3.1 million people.

The Industry is poised to grow rapidly in the coming years and in the process is also gearing itself up to address systemic issues that are faced in such a high action packed growth. In the global delivery model platform that is being practiced by Indian Service providers and the Global corporations, the issue of Security stands as one of the key risk area that needs to be addressed promptly to the satisfaction of the clients spread across 78 countries.

Forecasted growth in the head count in the coming years would require putting systems and process into place and right alignment of the workforce to the secured environment becomes an important task for the nascent industry. To achieve this National Skills Registry (NSR) was created so that employees in the IT / ITES industry could register themselves voluntarily and allow access to their employers to verify their background. Such a practice not only reflects the best practices being followed on the industry but it also assist the challenging task of tracking the background of each employee hired by the industry.

Today NSR stands 9.5 Lac strong workforce and continues to grow at a rapid pace. In fact such a database to uniquely identify workforce is first of its kind and continues to scale up. NSR today has become a default standard to empanel background checking companies and continues to scale up as one of the best risk mitigation tool.
